Saint Laurent launches $1,300 Baghera Rider children’s toy car

The Right Bank of Saint Laurent is known for its collaborations and sometimes extravagant articles. We’ve seen surfboards, logo Rubik’s cubes, ski gear, condoms and more, but his latest addition is one we didn’t have on our list.

It is every child’s dream to own a toy car. I remember mine: it was red plastic, with a white steering wheel, and it certainly damaged the floor of my family home, but it was perfect.

Saint Laurent’s iteration, however, is definitely not some cheap plastic piece from the toy store – this one is a work of art. Made in collaboration with Baghera, the car is made of metal and comes in a bubblegum pink hue, contrasted by a zebra print saddle and steering wheel.

With a $1,300 price tag, we can’t see the average kid rolling on one of these, but before we know it, Cardi B’s daughter Kulture will be getting one, or maybe even Kylie Jenner’s newborn son, formerly known as Wolf. Both kids already have custom Chrome Hearts strollers, so a Saint Laurent car seems like the obvious next step.

While the piece is absolutely ridiculous, it’s a fun addition to Saint Laurent’s Rive Droite items that’s guaranteed to get people talking – which is exactly the point.

Over the past few years we have become obsessed with all things design. We’ve seen water bottles, Frisbees, picnic gear, ping pong sets, golf clubs – you name it – get the luxury treatment, and despite being so many simply ask “why”, parts sell out in the blink of an eye.

If you’re looking to gift your child the $1,300 Saint Laurent Baghera Rider, it’s currently available to order online as well as in stores in Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles. Maybe I’ll buy one for myself – it’s a lot cheaper than a regular car.
