Aldi bombarded with complaints over ‘offensive’ £2.99 dog toy

Budget supermarket giant Aldi has found itself in hot water with dog owners. The retailer has released a £2.99 SpecialBuy for dogs, but some people are struggling to swallow.

A photo of the dog toy has been shared online. It’s a ribbed sweetcorn toy with a suction cup so you can stick it anywhere you want. For your dog, of course.

The post, which was shared on Extreme Couponing and Bargains, said: “Aldi is selling sweetcorn-shaped dog toys for £2.99.” Good focus on the DOG there guys.

It wasn’t long before the complaints started rolling in, and dog owners jokingly criticized it, suggesting it’s not dog friendly at all and looks very ‘offensive’.

Adam Leonard said, “Ribbed for more fun.” James Gibbons wrote: “What is it in the name of Anne Summers.”

Charlene Fawcett laughed: “I’m sure A&E will see a lot of that.” Becky Louise said, “Yeah…’for the dogs’…*sees a sucker at the bottom* definitely not for the dogs.”

Lori Honey said: “Absolutely no one buys this for their dogs.” Ashleigh Winchester said: “You just know someone is going to end up in A&E saying they tripped over it accidentally got lodged in the back! Some people just can’t train their dogs to properly store their toys.”

Georjy Cook commented, “‘dog toy’ is fine.” Kevin Briggs said, “Ann Summers sells similar dog toys.”

Aldi has been contacted for comment.
